SALT LAKE CITY — Helen Hawk Ivers, 87, died July 15.

Ivers was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Salt Lake City to Claude and Grace Hawk.Her parents founded one of the first theater circuits in Utah and Nevada, in addition to holding interests in retail, service firms, and real estate in Salt Lake City. She was a graduate of St. Mary of the Wasatch Academy. During World War II, she lived in California and Texas, keeping her then small family close to where her husband, John C. "Jack" Ivers was stationed. Following they moved to Layton for a short time before moving to Salt Lake City and the Avenues for 35 years. They moved to Holladay in 1977, and to Denver in 2002.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John; daughters, Carroll (Buck) Anderson, Littleton, Colo., Sheila Ivers; Bridget (Steve) Parker, Butte, Mont., and Peggy Ivers, Denver, Colo.; son, John C. "Jack" Ivers, Jr, Martinez, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
