Helen Kowalchik

BOUNTIFUL — Helen Madeline Stackalis Kowalchik, 88, died Aug. 8, 2010. She was a member of Saint Olaf Parish.

Kowalchik was born Dec. 15, 1921 in Luzerne, Penn., to Joseph and Mary Yanushonis Stackalis. She married Edward Kush in July, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1957. She married Peter Kowalchik in September, 1957 in Pennsylvania, and he preceded her in death in 2005.

She lived in Pennsylvania for 75 years before moving to Bountiful in 1996. She was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society at St. Ann in Pennsylvania and at St. Olaf. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting and made them a work of art.

She is survived by her sons Raymond A. (Marleen) Kush and Peter (Carolyn) Kowalchik; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Anthony Stackalis; and sister Agnes Daugher.

A memorial service was held at Lindquist Mortuary. Inurnment was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
