My dear brother priests, deacons, religious and lay faithful,
On January 13, 2012, the Intermountain Catholic will print a readership survey. In addition to demographic information, the survey asks questions about readers’ preferences about the stories that are covered, how they prefer to receive news about the Catholic Church and their news reading habits. The Intermountain Catholic Advisory Board and I hope that the information gathered from this survey will guide the newspaper’s direction in the years ahead.
The Intermountain Catholic is an integral part of my ministry. When I arrived in the Diocese of Salt Lake City five years ago, I was delighted to find such a vibrant paper in these times when many dioceses have ceased such publications. I am grateful to have the Intermountain Catholic, not only as a way to fulfill my teaching ministry but also to create a historical record of the Church in Utah.
I encourage you to complete the survey, either in the hard copy paper or online at https:/www.surveymonkey.com/s/8VMMJX3. The more participation in the survey, the better we will be able to understand what readers want from their local Catholic paper.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend John C. WesterBishop of Salt Lake City
