2023 Intercultural Marian Celebration

This year’s Intercultural Marian Celebration, held Oct. 7, drew an estimated 1,000 people to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kearns for a procession, recitation of the rosary and Mass. 

The procession wound its way through the streets near the church, with participants reciting the rosary and singing Marian hymns in many languages as they carried representations of the Virgin Mary from about 30 different cultures from around the world. Among them were Our Lady of Aparecida from Brazil, Our Lady of La Vang from Vietnam, Our Lady of San Juan de Los Lagos from Mexico; Our Lady of Vailankanni from India, Our Lady of Fatima from Portugal and Our Lady of Guadalupe from Mexico.

The procession ended at the church, where the rosary was recited in six languages and a multicultural Mass was celebrated. Following the Mass was a reception with food from the various cultures and  cultural performances from Mexico, Vietnam, Tonga, Samoa and Venezuela.
