Irene Genovieve Woods, 71, of Taylorsville passed away on May 27, 2022, after a battle with interstitial lung disease.  
Irene was born on March 11, 1951, to Pat and Josephine Romero in Las Vegas, New Mexico. A graduate of Robertson High School in 1969, Irene and her family (12 siblings and parents) have deep roots in the city of Las Vegas. Shortly after graduation, she met and fell in love with Walter S. Woods. They were married in 1971 and remained happily married for 51 years until her passing.
Irene and Walter lived a short time in Amarillo, Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to Helena, Montana. In 1989, they moved their family to the Salt Lake Valley. She and Walter raised three boys and now have 12 grandchildren.  
Irene’s family and friends will remember her kindness, persistent humor and dedication to her faith. She was known for her generosity and desire to help others. Those who spent time with her will fondly recall that she made them feel like family.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Josephine; six siblings, Tony, Benny, Eloy, Jimmy, Becky, Frances; and two grandchildren, Dorothy and Charles Jr. She is survived by her husband, Walter; her three sons, Walter James (Jill), Robert (Dawn), and Charles (Nicole); 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Katelyn, Isabella, Philip, Gabriel, Joshua, Bram, Matthias, Jett and Conner; and six siblings, Pat, Lee, Yolonda, Virginia, Geraldine and Linda Mae.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Taylorsville on June 3.
