SALT LAKE CITY — Isabell Sheya, 96, died in her sleep four days before her 97th birthday.

Sheya was born June 4, 1912, to James N. and Almoz Farah Sheya in Helper. She moved with her family to Salt Lake City in 1927. She graduated from St. Mary of the Wasatch, and then graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked for 30 years with Dr. Kenneth Castleton, who later became the first Dean of the University of Utah School of Medicine. Upon his retirement, she joined the staff of Dr. Grant Hickman, where she retired after 10 years. She also had a life long love affair with literature and poetry, and traveled the world. She attended Mass every day.

She is survived by two sisters, Rosaline and Edna.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
