OGDEN — The day finally arrived. On Oct. 14, after long preparation, 24th Street in Ogden was officially named after the Jayhawks of Saint Joseph Catholic schools.

In a touching ceremony, Father Patrick Elliott, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Parish in Ogden, blessed the street and told everyone present to be proud of it.

Many St. Joseph students with their families and faculty staff decorated their cars for a parade that ran through Jayhawk Way, accompanied by the sounds of car horns and lots of cheering.

“We are very pleased that the city granted this to the Alumni Association.”

– Norman Allred, St. Joseph Catholic High School principal

“It is pretty neat; for years we have been wanting this and now we have it, 24th street belongs now to the Saint Joseph Jayhawks.” –

–Javier Chavez, parent of a St. Joseph Catholic High School student

“It is neat. All the schools have a street and we finally get one.”

– Daniel Phal, St. Joseph Catholic High School student

“It’s kind of cool that we are being recognized.”

–Alexandria Shane, St. Joseph Catholic High School student
