OGDEN — Jimmie Singh Diarte, 86, died Oct. 10, at his home of causes incident to age. He was a member of Saint James Parish.

Diarte was born July 25, 1922, in Ogden to Charley Sher and Ygnacia Alvarado Singh. On Dec. 25, 1956, he married Mary Augustina Galvan in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was raised and educated in Brigham City and spent most of his life in Ogden. He was a faithful member of his parish, where he volunteered his services for more than 40 years and received the "Man of the Year" award and numerous other recognitions. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He retired from the Defense Depot in Ogden as a warehouse supervisor over textiles following 37 years of service. He was a member of the Ogden Community Improvement Council and the American Legion, the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American G.I. Forum.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, James (Jeanne) Diarte, Cypress, Texas; and Carlos (Paula) Diarte, Ogden; daughter, Elena Bush (Rick Shelton) Roy; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry (Molly) Diarte, and Ray (Flora) Diarte.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint James Catholic Church. Interment was in Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
