SALT LAKE CITY — John Maher, 70, passed away on Oct. 11, 2011, in the VA Hospital, Salt Lake City. Maher was born on Feb. 8, 1941 in Providence, RI. He moved to Salt Lake and pursued an active involvement with the Disabled American Veteran’s (DAV) Chapter 6, and was elected as Chapter and State Commander for the DAV. He and his wife have been parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for the last 20 years. Maher is survived by his wife Jessica; daughter Paula; and son Kenneth. Maher was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
