John Paul Attilio Bedont

1984 ~ 2025

John Paul Attilio Bedont, lovingly known as “Jack,” was born on October 20, 1984, in Salt Lake City to Lori Martinez Bedont and Richard Bedont.

Jack attended J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School and Judge Memorial Catholic High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in finance from Westminster University and later completed his MBA at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. He was a proud member of Beta Theta Phi.

His career in finance spanned nearly two decades across Salt Lake City, Nashville, New Jersey and Charlotte with leading financial institutions. Wherever work took him, Jack brought his passions – a fervent love for playing basketball, a house with ESPN always on, diehard support for the Chiefs, lifelong admiration for Michael Jordan, and a dedication to golf. Above all his qualities, Jack will be remembered as a world-class friend and family member – loyal, hilarious and endlessly generous. Jack made a point to keep a connection with his family and always conveyed his love. His greatest pride was in being a brother to Emily and an “Uncle Jack-ster” and godfather to Addy, Nico and Benny.

Jack’s life came to a close in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was surrounded by loved ones as he passed, wrapped in the kind of love he gave so freely in life. We find comfort knowing he’s found peace, and like to imagine he’s already found the perfect fairway in that eternal place we all hope for. We are grateful to have accompanied him for so many years and will miss his quiet strength, his thoughtful gaze and the lasting impressions he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jack is survived by his father Richard Bedont (Kate); sister Emily Miller (Reed); three adored nieces and nephews – Addy, Nico, and Benny Miller; Aunts Connie Planet (Mike) and Stella Canzano (Mike); Vicki Box (Jack), Bobbie Hunnicutt, Nancy Waldeck (Fred) and Cindy Spaeth; and many, many cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Lori, his grandparents Claudio and Cordelia Martinez, and Attilio and Henrietta Bedont.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1 p.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 670 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
