John Wayne Chalk

OGDEN — John Wayne Chalk, 50, died Feb. 3 at his home of cancer.

Chalk was born July 7, 1957, in St. Louis, Mo., to Edward Clarence and Martha Marklin Chalk. He served in the U.S. Air Force Special Forces from 1977 to 1981. For the past 24 years he has worked in the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Japan, Italy, France, Omar, UAE, California, and Salt Lake City for L-3 Communications. He served as a field engineer representative on four different continents. He received countless technical and performance awards from his company, the U.S. Military, and from the United Kingdom Military. He was widely respected by his peers as an outstanding engineer and a great friend. The time he treasured most was being with his children at Flaming Gorge.

He is survived by his wife, Frixie; daughter, Miranda Ray, Salt Lake City, and son, Richard Chalk, Springville; mother, Martha Chalk; brother, Edward M. (Karen) Chalk, Vernal; sisters, Anne (Ron) Kucera, Bellingham, Wa.; Mary Lou (Wayne) German, Newberg, Ore.; Susan (Lynn M) Silcox, Vernal; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. James Catholic Church.
