October 20, 1940 ~ June 21, 2025
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend passed away on June 21, 2025. Born on October 20, 1940 in Arboles, Colorado, to John Joseph Payan and Maria Sophia Lobato Payan. She graduated from Ogden High School.
Her career included Hill AFB, IRS and Jetway. Her hobbies included flowers, ceramics, embroidery, gardening, reading, drawing, tennis and bowling. She was den leader of the Boy Scouts, president of the women’s church group, Promoters of the Sacred Heart and other groups in the Church.
She is survived by her husband Ronald Shick; sons Christopher and wife Michelle Shick, Quinley and wife Renee Shick; brothers Bill and wife Debbie Velasquez, Louis and wife Tami Payan; sisters Mary Lena Arlofski, Cathy Trentman; granddaughters Sophia Shick, Madeline Shick and Mary Shick; grandsons Conrad and wife Kalee Shick and Michael Shick; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father John Payan and mother Sophia Paya; sisters Belinda Lopez, Mary Gene Salaz and Cordy Velasquez and brothers Chuck Velasquez and Mike Velasquez.
She was a dedicated longtime member of St Joseph Parish. She was loved and adored by many. We all love her and will miss her dearly.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on June 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ogden. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
