Judge Memorial Catholic High School is inviting everyone to join them in their centennial celebration, which will be Aug. 27.
The celebration was postponed twice because of the pandemic; the school was founded in 1921 as Catholic Grammar School No. 2. The high school was incorporated in 1923, and the first class graduated in 1925. From 1926 to 1928 the institution was known as Cathedral High School and Catholic Grammar School. In 1929 it became known as Judge Memorial School, comprised of all grades. In 1949 the high school became its own entity, with the lower grades formed into Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. In 1960, the original building was demolished and the cornerstone laid for the new Judge Memorial Catholic High School. From 1964 to 1970 it was run as an all-boys school; girls attended St. Mary of the Wasatch Academy. When St. Mary closed in 1970, Judge Memorial again became co-educational.
The celebration on Aug. 27 will begin with a Mass in the school auditorium at which Bishop Oscar A. Solis will preside. School tours, live music and a dinner will follow. Appetizers by the Judge Student Epicurean club will be offered.
Parking will be available at the University of Utah Rice-Eccles Stadium, with a free shuttle bus to the Judge Memorial campus.
