SALT LAKE CITY — Leonia Parenti, 94, June 22, in her home. Parenti was born Dec. 30, 1914, in Torree Del Lago, Italy, in the Tuscany Region, to Ferdinando and Annunziata Belluomini. She overcame many hardships in her young life, not the least of which was poverty, fear and terror that she confronted during World War II. She married Alfonso Parenti, Sept. 25, 1948, in Torre Del Lago. He immigrated to Ogden, Utah, in 1921, and was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad Company. She soon followed. They lived in Ogden for 31 years until 1979, when they moved to Salt Lake City. She represented the last of the great Italian immigrants who were hard working, resourceful, and capable of giving uncompromised love. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church. Committal was in Ogden City Cemetery. She is survived by her son Robert (Kris); two grandchildren, Angela Patterson, (Mark) and Michael Parenti; two sisters, Tina Carraresi and Bianca Belluomini; one brother, Mario Belluomini.
