KEARNS — Louis Elifar Vega died June 22. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish. Vega was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Durango, Colo., to Jesus and Bernadette Vega. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Helen Montoya Jan. 14, 1956, in Helper. They were blessed with three children. Vega worked hard all of his life and retired as the sexton at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Salt Lake City. He was a devout Catholic and his faith in God never wavered throughout his challenges in life. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Steven; grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, John Paul, Manuel; sister, Anita; brothers, Manuel (Audrey), Jim (Evelyn), John (Carol), and Richard (Marie); and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
