Youth from Saints Peter and Paul Parish share the joy of the Gospel with San Pablo Mission

SALT LAKE CITY — Maria Althof Bryker, 95, passed away Nov. 1, 2012.

Bryker was born May 14, 1917 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. She married Hessel Bryker on Sept. 28, 1942. She immigrated in 1952 to the United States.

Bryker was a devout Catholic. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir for over 55 years, first at Sacred Heart Parish and then Saint Ambrose Parish for 40 years. She work at the Bingos at Sacred Heart and Saint Francis of Assisi parishes for 50 years. She also worked at Catholic Charities for many years. In her later years she was a member of the 49er’s Club and some of her best times were spent going to Wendover with the 49er’s.

Bryker is survived by her four children: Trudi (Ron) Russell, Emiel (Pat), Marjo, Marian (Kelly) Vance; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen and Jo Anne.

Bryker was preceded in death by her husband, Hessel; and siblings George, Emme, Jan, Gerald, Martha and Eddie.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church.
