Maria Angelina Rodriquez Garcia
September 5, 1945 ~ September 26, 2023
Maria Angelina (Angie) Rodriquez Garcia was delivered into this world on September 5, 1945. She passed into heaven on September 26, 2023. She was raised in the small town of Monte Vista, Colorado, where she loved to visit her aunt Rita later in life with her husband and family. She always described her early childhood years as very joyful times in her life.
The early childhood years growing up in a family that only had the essentials of life were the values that would help her to raise her children. She had within her being what God wants from all of us: love, compassion and charity. God gave her the responsibility of being a devoted mother to her children and she kept that duty throughout her life. She cared for her aging mother, Lucinda, for several years until she passed on. In May 1971 she married her loving husband Phil Garcia, and they would go on in life, loving each other for over 50 years. That intense love, unconditional, was what bound these two lives together, and what inspired them to raise a good Christian family. Angie believed that life did not end here, but continued into the heaven that we are promised. She believed in the angels and saints and was devoted to praying her rosary.
The devotion she had for family and friends was also displayed in one of her passions and that was being a devoted fan of the Bronco football team. Throughout their early years Angie and her family enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and just enjoying the beauty of nature. She loved to cook and especially to make her very delicious homemade tortillas for her family. She liked to make frijoles, papas fritas and chile verde for her family.
Angie is survived by her husband Phil; children James, Vanessa (Jason), Philip and Felicia (Mark); and one sister, Clara. Her grandchildren that she was blessed to have in her life are Ethan, Levi, Breeana, Zarah, Veronica, Chrystal, Priscilla, Sophia; and great-grandchildren Zada, McKinley, Monty and a granddaughter to be born in February 2024 (Angelina).
She is preceded in death by her mom Lucinda; brothers Levi, Valentin and Clifford; and her son Luisito.
