SALT LAKE CITY — Marian Therese Maloney, 94, died May 25. She was born March 23, 1915, to Patrick and Catherine Hesslon Maloney. She graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School. She was ahead of her time in the workforce. While working for the National Committee for Aeronautics (later NASA), she received the original wire officially noting the sound barrier had been broken. She retired after many years of service. She had a deep love for the Catholic Church, a thirst for knowledge, and her life was one of love, care, and service. She found her true joy in children, and touched the lives of many people. She is survived by her sister, Katherine (Eugene) Estrade, Sunnyside, Calif.; brother, James Frances (Elizabeth) Maloney, Chelelis, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
