Mark Anthony Carrillo was born in Dragerton, Utah, Nov. 30, 1955 to Berta and Tito Carrillo. He graduated from East Carbon High School in 1974. He graduated from CEU in 1976 and later received a Bachelor of Arts degree in industrial arts from Southern Utah State College.

Mark took his first job at T.H. Bell in Ogden in 1978 and while he was there, he coached baseball. He taught at Mont Harmon Jr. High for 28 years and also helped with the football program. He finished out his career at  Carbon High School. He was voted teacher of the year for the extra mile award in 2005-2006. During his teaching career he received many awards including Teacher of the Year, Southeastern Utah Teacher of the Year, Arch Coal Foundation Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation, Outstanding Teacher from Forest Scientific Corporation,  Visionary Service Leader Award from Price Municipal Corporation and UTEE Utah Technology & Engineering Educator.

He married Alayne Young in 1988 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. They had two children, Zade and Zander.

Mark had three businesses in the time that he taught school: Carrillo Redwood Burl Furniture, Tender Home Health Shuttle, both with his brother Juan, and Carrillo Towing. He received the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce Customer Service Award. Throughout his adult life he was involved in church as an altar boy, lector, eucharistic minister and Oktoberfest chair and helped with the FOG program, Food Outreach Program. He was a 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus and was on the color guard for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Carbon Medical Board. He and Alayne chaired the National Wild Turkey Federation for 14 years.

Survived by his loving wife Alayne Young Carrillo; son, Zade Mark Carrillo, Zander Mark Carrillo; sister, Gloria Carrillo; niece, Jennifer, Breanne, Miranda, Jayslin, Alexia; nephews Bryson, Carlos and Adrian; best friend and brother Ronnie Stubbs. Preceded in death by his parents Thomas (Tito) Carrillo, Bertha Duran Carrillo; brothers, Juan M., Thomas “Tommy” Jr.,and Leonard Carrillo.

A funeral Mass was celebrated August 10 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Committal, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
