Mary Cecilia Astorga, age 100, passed away on November 16, 2022 at home with her daughters by her side. She was born on November 22, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Augustina Negrete and Donaciano Gomez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Astorga, on September 26, 1986.

Mom lived a good life. She would have been 101 on November 22. She was the pillar of our family. She loved gardening, traveling and her glass of wine. She traveled extensively with her children. Her most memorable trip was in 2002, when she went to Rome. She visited the Vatican and was blessed by Pope John Paul II. May her memory be eternal. “Vaya Con Dios.”

She is survived by daughters Barbara Astorga and Debbie (Anthony) Torres; daughter-in-law Bernadette Astorga and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; sons Ralph and Tom; her dog, Suni; four brothers and three sisters.

A funeral was celebrated on November 30, 2022 at St. Jude Maronite Catholic Church, Taylorsville. Interment followed at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
