Mary G. Mayo, 98, died on August 12, 2023. She was born December 13, 1924 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Felipe and Pilar Gonzales.

Mary attended Judge Memorial Catholic High School, Class of 1943 and married Deacon Silvio Mayo on December 23, 1943. He preceded her passing in 2018. Mary was employed as a medical librarian assistant at various hospitals in the Salt Lake Valley. She was also a volunteer/member of the Cathedral of the Madeleine Parish. She was very active with the Catholic Woman’s League and was named Woman of the Year in 1996. She was also a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Mary enjoyed the gift of hospitality with so many friends throughout the years. She was a voracious reader and loved a good game of bridge.

She leaves behind her children Joanne M. Mayo and Msgr. Joseph M. Mayo; grandchild Paul (Tina); great-grandchildren Raquel and Evan Mayo; and daughter-in-law Kathy Mayo. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, son Robert Mayo and grandson David Mayo.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on August 23, 2023 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, Salt Lake City. Interment followed at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
