Mary Louise Johnson Chamberlain

November 30, 1950 ~ December 8, 2023

Mary Louise Johnson Chamberlain joined her husband, Verdell, for a long-awaited reunion on December 8, 2023, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Mary was born November 30, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wilbur and Dorothy Johnson.  

She was the baby of the family, with three sisters and a brother. She and her best friend Sandi attended Catholic schools in the valley, sharing many mischievous adventures.  

Mary worked for over 30 years at the Division of Wildlife Resources as an accountant. She married the love of her life on November 27, 1977. They spent many years traveling before he passed away in 2014.

While learning to live without him, she spent her time with her sister and best friend, Frances. They were together every day for the last nine years. During their one outing each day they used it to purchase a “stick of gum.”

Mary is survived by her sisters Frances (Don) Carpenter and Carolyn Nolan, sister in-law Carol Johnson, many nieces and nephews, as well as members of the Chamberlain family. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Kathy, brother Michael, infant brother Gary, one niece and one nephew.  

The family would like to thank the caretakers at Twin Oaks Memory Care for their love and support during Mary’s last few months.

A funeral Mass was celebrated December 13, 2023 at Saint Ann Catholic Church, Salt Lake City. Inurnment followed at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
