July 27, 1929 ~ December 17, 2022
Mike Romo Falvo passed away peacefully on December 17, 2022. He was an amazing treasure with many titles throughout his life: son, brother, friend, athlete, uncle, husband, father, grandfather… showing all that knew him how good a person could be at each and every one of those things.
Mike was born on July 27, 1929, the son of Italian immigrants who settled in the small town of Magna, Utah. Magna attracted Italian and Greek immigrants with jobs at the famous Kennecott Copper Mine. Mike was a dedicated son growing up in a family of three boys.
On February 23, 1963, Mike married Ellen Uzelac at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. They were married for 58 years. His family was everything to him. The love and patience he instilled in his children carries on with us; OK, maybe some of us are still working on his patience training, but his presence is always there! He was an amazing example of how to love. He was inseparable from his brothers, his parents, his wife, his children and grandchildren. He was a devout Catholic. He had unwavering support for his children, never missing a game or performance even after they had become adults. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching any sport, but football was his favorite.
He was a storyteller, perhaps not as long-winded as our Greek side, but he had an uncanny memory of the extensive fun and eventful events throughout his life. He was a talented athlete in high school, successful in basketball, baseball and football.
Of the many quotes that Dad recounted throughout the years, there are three that really sum up much of who Dad was and how he lived his life: “Family is Everything,” “If you have your health, you have everything” and “It will all work out.” He will be missed beyond measure and while the void left without him is unimaginable to those closest to him, the love he gave us for 93 years certainly makes that easier to bear.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Falvo and Frances Burza Falvo; wife Ellen Uzelac Falvo; brothers Frank Falvo (Mary) and Pete Falvo. He is survived by his children Michael Falvo (Charlotte), Pamela Faaland (Olaf), Mark Falvo (Lisa); grandchildren Michael, Anthony, Haley (Michael), Stefan, Sophia (Pamela), Logan, Olivia, Parker (Mark).
