SALT LAKE CITY — Miquela Herrera Velarde Smith, 92, passed away Jan. 9, 2013. Smith was born Oct. 9, 1920 in Denver, Colo., to Teodora Jaramillo and Erineo Herrera. She was raised by Carlota and Ricardo Aguilar. Smith is survived by children Teddi, Joseph, Estefana, Roy and Georgia. Smith was preceded in death by daughters Carlota and Ignacita Velarde. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ann Catholic Church.
