SALT LAKE CITY — Msgr. Michael Winterer will be the speaker for the 2020 Salt Lake Deanery Spring Luncheon, scheduled for March 21 at Saints Peter and Paul Parish.

All are welcome to attend the luncheon, said Cynthia Acosta, deanery president.

“It is always a nice gathering during our Lent preparation,” said Acosta, inviting all women and their friends to attend the luncheon; men are also welcome.

Msgr. Winterer, the spiritual advisor for the Salt Lake Deanery, always has good things to say, Acosta said.

“A number of the deanery board members heard a spirituality talk he did at Sts. Peter and Paul, and knew he would be wonderful as a presenter,” said Jeanne Audiss, the incoming deanery president. Her installation will occur at the luncheon.

People attending the luncheon will have the opportunity to meet and chat with Msgr. Winterer.

“I think they will be delighted to meet him,” Audiss said. “He is such a kind and gentle man. He is like a book himself, with a wealth of knowledge. I feel they will get a better understanding of how they too can enrich their lives by understanding God’s love for us and his forgiveness.”

The luncheon will be held on a Saturday little more than halfway through Lent, which will also give those attending an opportunity to reflect on the Lenten promises that they have made.

“Oftentimes, people start struggling with their Lenten promises or maybe have forgotten them all together. I think monsignor’s talk will help boost or revitalize their promises they made to God and to themselves to be a better example of who God wants them to be,” Audiss said.

The spring luncheon, which is the deanery’s only fundraiser, also will offer a silent auction, a cookie walk and a raffle.

“It is also a great time to enjoy the camaraderie of other Catholic women,” Audiss said.
