A new $1,500 scholarship is being offered to Saint Joseph Catholic High School students for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Cindy Lowder Service Scholarship honors the 1990 SJCHS graduate, who “truly embodied everything it meant to be a part of the Saint Joseph Family,” states the scholarship announcement. “Cindy was able to cultivate an environment that was full of love and open to everyone. Coaching girls’ volleyball, tracking stats at basketball games, coordinating booster events, working with students at retreats to further their spiritual nourishment, to breathing life into the school ambassadors, Cindy did it all, making a difference in the lives of many. Cindy had a love that reached so many people, and for that, she will always have a place in our hearts.”

Two scholarships will be awarded, one each to a male and female student. To qualify for the scholarship, a student must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior who demonstrates a strong desire to attend St. Joe’s and to actively engage in service projects in and around the school community. The student also should demonstrate a deep love for others’ wellbeing and a pattern of giving back to the Ogden/SJCHS community, and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

A 500-word essay one each of the follow questions is required: How do you serve the Saint Joseph Catholic High School Community? Why is it important to share every good thing you have? Why is it important that you attend Saint Joseph Catholic High School?

The applicant’s latest transcript also must be submitted.

Application deadline is June 15. For information, visit https://stjosephutah.org/admissions-2/the-cindy-lowder/
