COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A display of Eucharistic miracles worldwide created by Blessed Carlo Acutis will be on view at Saint Thomas More Parish Sept. 6-14.
The Eucharistic Miracles of the World display is being presented by the Ladies of Saint Thomas More, in conjunction with the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. The international exhibition was devised by Blessed Carlo Acutis, who died in 2006; he will be canonized on Sept. 7 by Pope Leo XIV.
“My life plan is to always be connected to Jesus, living with Jesus, for Jesus and in Jesus,” said Carlo Acutis, who died of leukemia at the age of 15.
The exhibit is comprised of 39 panels that present the Eucharistic miracles recorded by Blessed Carlo from 20 countries around the world, as well as saints and mystics and the Eucharist, Our Lady and the Eucharist and miraculous communions. The panels are in both English and Spanish.
“A couple years ago the display was being shown at the DCCW [Diocesan Council of Catholic Women] convention. A few of us ladies who attended loved it,” said Melissa Corcoran, president of the Ladies of St. Thomas More.
When the DCCW announced that they would loan the exhibit to any parish that wanted to host it, St. Thomas More Parish signed up. However, “We weren’t able to get it from the DCCW until a little bit ago,” Corcoran said. “Through some unusual circumstances we just happen to have it at the same time that Carlo Acutis will be canonized.”
She added that she is excited to be able to bring the exhibit to the parish community, where it will be available to anyone who would like to view it.
“Our purpose is to bring the Eucharist closer to people, since it’s a time of Eucharistic revival,” she said. “It also gives people something more to connect with through the stories and the work of Carlo.”
The display, in the parish center, will available for viewing Sept. 6-14 after the weekend Masses and throughout the week during regular parish office hours.
Mike Edwards, youth and young adult diocesan ministry director, will make a small presentation after the 5 p.m. Mass on Sept. 6, and he will answer questions that people may have.
“We also hope the youth of our Church will be inspired by [Blessed Carlo Acutis], this amazing young man, and realize that Church and technology are not mutually exclusive,” Corcoran said.
The Miracles of the Eucharist “are miraculous divine interventions that are aimed at confirming faith in the real presence of the body and blood of the Lord in the Eucharist,” according to the exhibit description. The exhibit is “intended to confirm the faith, based of the words of Christ according to which what seems like bread is no longer bread, and what seems like wine is no longer wine. Flesh and blood, or one or the other, appear in Miracles of the Eucharist, depending on the case,” it adds.
