Holy Anniversaries! A number of diocesan priests also will celebrate their ordination anniversaries this month. Father David Altman, abbot of Our Lady of The Holy Trinity Monastery, will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of his ordination on Sept. 29; Father John E. Norman, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Magna, will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of his ordination on Sept. 7; Father Dennis W. Ruane, sacramental minister of Immaculate Conception Parish in Copperton, will celebrate the 52nd anniversary of his ordination on Sept. 19; Father Javier G. Virgen, Vicar for Hispanic Affairs/ Vocations Director, will celebrate the 18th anniversary of his ordination on Sept. 4.
Big Score! Emily Bruder, a junior at Juan Diego CHS, scored one of the two goals in a friendly soccer match against Japan for the U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team for a tie at the Home Depot Center.
Open Discussion! The Holy Cross Associate gathering on Aug. 27 drew 20 people to discuss prayer. Holy Cross Sister Martha Ann Norwood gave a presentation on How to Pray Always. The group, which plans to meet quarterly, scheduled its next meeting for Nov. 19.
In Remembrance! Cardinal Aloysius Ambrozic, retired archbishop of the Archdiocese of Toronto, died Aug. 26 at the age of 81. The late cardinal was a priest for 56 years, bishop for 35 years and served as archbishop of Toronto from 1990 to 2006. His funeral Mass was scheduled for Aug. 31 in St. Michael’s Cathedral in Toronto.

Valine, Sept. 26, 1992; Deacon Aniceto Armendariz, Sept. 25, 2005; Deacon Raymond , Sept. 16, 1978; and Deacon Gerald Shea, Sept. 26, 2004.
