Hoop Stars! Monique Mills, a sophomore at Juan Diego Catholic High School, was selected to the first team All-State Girl’s Basketball team. Dominique Mills (sophomore, JDCHS) and Lancee Whetman (senior, JDCHS), were given Honorable mentions.

Experimental! Elodie Gourgeon and Alex George-Kennedy, students at Juan Diego CHS, placed second in state in Materials Science at the Science Olympiad.

Player of the Week! Payton Schiff, midfielder for Judge Memorial CHS, was named, along with midfielder Chris Williams of Skyline HS, as the Epiphany Lacrosse Player of the Week for Week 6.

Hoop Stars! Joe Cremer and Pat Neville, seniors at Judge Memorial CHS, and Gabe Colosimo, a sophomore at Juan Diego CHS, were all named second team All-State Boys basketball.

Up and Coming Reporter! Carolyn Martin, a student in Juan Diego CHS’ advanced TV production, won honorable mention in the news report category for her story on the new TRAX stop at the Utah High School Film Festival.

In the Big Leagues! Markie Wright, a junior at Juan Diego CHS, has been selected to participate on the Utah/Idaho Girls U-17 National Lacrosse Team.

Go Griffins! Joe Cremer, a senior at Judge Memorial CHS, has committed to play at Westminster College.

New Role! Auxiliary Bishop Mark Seitz of Dallas, 59, has been appointed as bishop of El Paso, Texas.

Promotion! Jesuit Father Michael Barber, a native of Salt Lake City, 58, a member of the Jesuit Province of California and director of spiritual formation at St. John’s Seminary, Brighton (Boston), Mass., has been appointed as bishop of Oakland, Calif.
