Happy Anniversary! Father Eugenio Yarce, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Salt Lake City, will celebrate the 19th anniversary of his ordination on Feb. 22.

Roses are Red! Three students from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Middle School – eighth graders Alexis Womble and Kierstyn Evans, and seventh grader Makayla Kirk – have been selected to have their poems published in "A Celebration of Poets Fall 2010," a publication of Creative Communications. Selection is based on region, so students compete against peers in their age group and location. Blessed Sacrament middle school students study poetry all year. The students will pick a favorite poem each month and write a reflection on it, and many students use journaling time to write poetry.

Quite a Character! Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Sandy has been named a 2011 Utah State School of Character. The school will hold the recognition for three years, through 2013. The school’s portfolio has been sent to Washington D.C. to be considered for a National School of Character.

Eternal Love! Mary and Lou DaRonche, parishioners of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, celebrated their 62 wedding anniversary on Jan. 29. During the Mass, Dominican Father Denis Reilly blessed them. The couple was married in 1949 in St. Therese’s little rock church.
