Pastor Assignments: Father José Rausseo + Enlarge
Father José Rausseo

Father José Rausseo was born and raised in Venezuela. He attended the University of Santa Maria in Caracas, studying business administration. He entered Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon and earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Salt Lake City on May 31, 2007 by the Most Rev. John C. Wester, ninth Bishop of Salt Lake City, now Archbishop of Santa Fe. His first assignment was in July 2007 as interim pastor of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in Midvale. The same year on Aug. 1 he was assigned as parochial vicar of St. Francis of Assisi in Orem, also ministering San Isidro Mission in Elberta. In August of 2012, he was assigned as pastor of San Andres, Payson; San Isidro Mission, Elberta and Saint Patrick, Eureka. On Aug. 2 he will return to St. Therese Parish to begin his new assignment as pastor there.
In response to the questions asked by the Intermountain Catholic, Fr. Rausseo answered, “Well, I honestly don’t like to talk about myself. I only let the facts do the talking. ‘For every tree is known by its own fruit…’ I try to guide my ministry according to the teachings of the Gospel and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and that way I can do what the Church expects of me. The Lord Jesus has entrusted me with a task, and I know very well that with his divine assistance I will be able to fulfill it. I am very pleased with what was accomplished in Payson, Elberta, and Eureka. Therefore, the most satisfying experience is to see the wonders of the Lord in the birth of a community.
I have already been in St. Therese, during the summer of 2006 as deacon; and as interim pastor in July 2007. Therefore, I think that the community already knows me. I just hope I can fulfill God’s will in this call.”
