Patrick Joseph Byrne

Our beloved husband and father, Patrick Joseph Byrne, died peacefully on Dec. 23, 2016.

Born in 1935, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty Finnegan), in 1960. Married for 56 years, the couple’s love story began in Dublin, Ireland, carried through many years in Chicago, and the final 38 years were in Bountiful, Utah. 

He was an avid golfer and so enjoyed his many friends and his weekly coffee group. He had a deep Catholic faith, a strong work ethic and enjoyed a 20 year long retirement from United Airlines. His sharp wit and sense of humor will be missed by all. 

Patrick is survived by wife Betty and their two children, son John and daughter Patricia (son-in-law Jay Darden), and brother-in-law Cyril J. Finnegan.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Patrick and Mary Byrne, sister Bridget O’Dwyer, and brothers Joe and Sean Byrne. 

A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 29 at Saint Olaf Catholic Church. Committal was at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Funeral directors were Neil O’Donnell and Sons.
