Paul Muharrem Flanagan

February 20, 1996 ~ September 6, 2025
Our beloved Paul Muharrem Flanagan passed away suddenly on the morning of September 6, 2025. He was out on a morning run in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and collapsed from natural causes at 29 years old.
Paul was born in Redmond, Washington on February 20, 1996 to Peri and Peter Flanagan and moved to Salt Lake City in 1999. He was a lifer at the Skaggs Catholic Center in Draper. He was a camper and counselor at Camp Kabeyun on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Paul studied biology and earned his bachelor’s in science from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, where he played lacrosse. He met the love of his life, Hannah Flanagan, at St. Ben’s, whom he married on July 16, 2022 in Alta, Utah. Paul, Hannah and their adored dog Oakley lived in Utah, where he worked as a lead environmental scientist at RMEC Environmental Inc.
Paul lived his life fully and knew how to enjoy the moment. He showed us how to slow down and appreciate the joys of everyday life. He made us laugh. He was sincere, had great humor and loved passionately. Paul thought he was the luckiest man in the world. His loves were Hannah, his family, his friends, his dog, the Seahawks and the mountains. Those who loved him described him as present, sincere, smart, loyal and goofy. We are so grateful to have had him in our lives for his 29 years. No amount of time would have been enough.
He leaves behind his wife Hannah Flanagan; parents Peri and Peter; siblings William and John; very beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his many loyal and wonderful friends from all over the country. Preceded in death by his grandparents Nancy Aksoy, Mustafa Muharrem Aksoy, Philbin Flanagan and Marilou Flanagan.
