ROOSEVELT — Pedro Lasa, 62, passed away Oct. 10, 2012, at home after a long battle with cancer. Lasa was born Sept. 3, 1950, in Lezo, Guipuzkoa, Spain, to Manuel Lasa and Maria Etxarte. He married Blanca Blas on Dec. 29, 1979, in Santesteban, Navarra, Spain. He came to the United States when he was 17 and worked as a sheepherder for many years. He then spent the rest of his life on the drilling rigs. Lasa is survived by his wife, Blanca; sons Inaki (Stefanie) Lasa and Xabier (Erin) Lasa; four granddaughters; siblings Rosario (Carmen) Lasa, Pakita Lasa, Pili (Joxean) Lasa, and Vicki (Joserra) Lasa; brother-in-law Jose Martin Blas; and sister-in-law Carmen (Martintxo) Arcelus, and many nieces and nephews. Lasa was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Lasa and Maria Etxarte; Francisco Blas and Maritxu Setuain; brothers-in-law Juanjo Alberro, Javier Blas and Antonio Blas. A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Saint Helen Catholic Church.
