SALT LAKE CITY — Pietro Furano, 87, passed away Jan. 9, 2013. Furano was born in Salt Lake City July 2, 1925. He married Rose on Dec. 11, 1943, while he was home on leave from the Navy. He served as a yeoman from October 1943 until March 1946. He served as president of the Italian American Civic League and was a parishioner at Saint Ann Parish and loved to serve as a lector at the Masses. He also supported the parish with his accounting skills by running the Diocesan Development Drive for many years. Furano is survived by wife Rose; sons Antonio (Charlene), and Dino (Robyn); daughter Carreen (Justin); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and sisters Nina Christensen, Giovanna Milner and Catherine Cline. Furano was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Matilda Furano. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church.
