At the fall clergy convocation on Oct. 10, Monsignor Joseph M. Mayo (left) and Msgr. Francis M. Mannion (right) were recognized for their 50th anniversary of priesthood. Msgr. Mannion was ordained a priest on June 9, 1973; Msgr. Mayo on Nov. 23, 1973. In his comments, Bishop Oscar A. Solis (center) said he was humbled by the example they set. “We have not accomplished anything like what you have done,” he said of himself and the younger priests. Speaking to his brother priests, he said, “I hope we have learned something from these two wonderful men who have given us a testimony of fidelity, enthusiasm, a great sacrifice.” Then, addressing the two jubilarians, he thanked them and asked them and all the senior priests, “Teach us, and I hope that we learn from you to be who we are as priests.”
