Among the faithful departed from the local Church who died in 2024 were 
· Father Charles J. Brunick, CSP, a Paulist priest who served as pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Layton from 1986 to 1988. He died Feb. 26;
· Jerald Hanten, State Deputy for the Utah Knights of Columbus from 2014 to 2016; who died Feb. 12;
· Father Michael Sciumbato, a retired priest of the diocese, who died April 27;
· Deacon Herschel Hester, who ministered at Saint James the Just Parish in Ogden and was involved with Scouting for 62 years, including serving as the chairman for the Diocese of Salt Lake City Committee on Catholic Scouting, died May 3;
· Monsignor Rudolf A. Daz, Jr., a retired priest of the diocese. He died May 18;
· Father James Casimir Bernas, OCSO, a member of the Trappist community at the Abbey of our Lady of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Huntsville, who died Aug. 9;
· Deacon John Bash, who ministered at St. Ambrose Parish since being ordained in 2004 and also ministered to homeless men at St. Mary’s Home even before he was ordained. He died Sept. 6;
· Father Michael Buckley, a graduate of Judge Memorial Catholic High School and priest of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, who died Sept. 21;
· Father Donald (Philip Neri) Bramble, OP, a Dominican friar of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, who among other assignments provided campus ministry at the St. Catherine of Siena Newman Center in Salt Lake City. He died Sept. 23;
· Monsignor Michael J. Winterer, a retired priest of the diocese, who died Sept. 29;
· Deacon Sosefo “Sefo” Manu, who ministered at St. Patrick Parish in Salt Lake City. He died Nov. 2;
· Cindi Lea Vega, who was a member for many years on the diocesan Commission for People with Disabilities and served several terms as its chairperson. She died Nov. 24;
· Deacon James Garcia, who ministered at St. Marguerite Parish in Tooele, who died Dec. 3.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
