Ruby Ann Bullock
December 15, 1939 ~ October 14, 2023
On October 14, 2023, our world lost a remarkable woman, Ruby Ann Bullock. Born on December 15, 1939, in Taos, New Mexico, Ruby’s story is one marked by adventure, compassion, humility and boundless love. Ruby was a woman of great faith, a dedicated member of Saint Marguerite Catholic Parish, where her warm heart and infectious laugh became a beloved part of the community.
Ruby’s adventurous spirit was reflected in her love for travel and her active involvement in various clubs including the Tooele Senior Circle, the Good Sam Club, Home Makers, Council of Catholic Women, and the Sunday Lunch Bunch with her cherished group of friends. She found joy in the simplicity of daily walks, the thrill of her great-grandchildren’s football and softball games, and the camaraderie of Friday night bingo at Saint Marguerite Catholic Church.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ruby made her family the centerpiece of her life. She is survived by her son, Clifford (Theresa) Bullock; her grandchildren Samantha Ann Bullock, Megan Breann Bullock, Caitlin Leann Bullock, James (Brooke) Sullivan and Jonathan Sullivan; her great-grandchildren Emberlyn, Raiden, Amara and Norah; her siblings Oclides (Oakie) Smith and William Mares; and numerous nieces and nephews who considered her like a second mom. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bullock; her parents Juan Alfonso Mares and Eulogia Mares; sisters Cora, Lucy and Alice; brothers Levi and Ernest Santistevan; nephew Billy Joe; and nieces Jeanie, Carmen Jean and Cecilia.
As we reflect on Ruby’s life, let us remember the words from Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Just as Ruby’s light shone brightly in our lives, may we continue to carry her spirit in our hearts. We encourage all who knew Ruby to share their memories and upload photos on her memorial page. Her legacy of love, compassion, and adventure lives on in each of us, and your shared stories and images will help keep her spirit alive.
Ruby will be especially missed by her son Clifford, granddaughters and great-grandchildren. We love you, Mom / Grandma; we can’t wait to see you again; you will be missed every day.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on October 20, 2023 at Saint Marguerite Catholic Church, Tooele.
