Ruth Agnes Cain Allen

SALT LAKE CITY — Ruth Agnes Cain Allen died Sept. 3, at CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa. She was a member of St. Ambrose Parish for many years.

Allen was born Nov. 1, 1911, in Missoula, Mont., to Horace B. and Anna Fleming Cain. She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) during World War II in Butte, Mont., where she met her husband Arthur A. Allen, Jr. She played the piano and taught herself how to play the organ. For more than 20 years, she played the organ at St. Ambrose Parish, J. E. Cosgriff Memorial School, and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Salt Lake City.

She was the administrative assistant at the University of Utah Mailing Bureau for several years. Following that, she was the administrative assistant to the Chancellor of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. She later served as the receptionist at the Pastoral Center.

Allen is survived by her three daughters, Margaret (David) Roylance, Boston, Mass., Katherine (Robert) Frandsen, Leavenworth, Kan., and Dorothy (Lothair) Pendleton, Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
