Members of Saint Mary Parish in West Haven collected blankets to donate to shelters in Japan that house survivors of the recent tsunami. Through contacts and the donation of freight space by an airline, they were able to send eight 60-pound boxes to the shelters. The effort was coordinated by the parish's new outreach ministry, which is co-chaired by Mary Jane DuPont and Maria Lobato, who is shown above with her children bringing blankets to the parish.
