The Catholic Church has officially opened the cause for sainthood for Cora Evans, who was born in Utah and was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but was baptized into the Catholic faith in 1935. She died in 1957 in in the Diocese of Monterey, Calif. She had "numerous visionary experiences and wrote a number of manuscripts," according to Michael McDevitt, who is the custodian of her writings.
