Salvatore John Nobile

1925 ~ 2023

On June 7, 2023 Salvatore John Nobile joined his loving wife Kathy after her passing 20 years earlier. John spent most of that time cooking and baking for family and church functions as well as documenting every minute of them on film.

“John” was born in 1925 and lived his life as a devout Catholic. He proudly served his country in World War II, where he lost his brother Joey. After returning home, he met and married Kathy and raised their children Rob, Kathy, Marilou and Sally in Pasadena, California. There, he built a life for his family along with his business, Nobile Shoe Repair. As their love grew, so did the family, including 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Nothing exceeded his love for his family, but photography, baking and instigating trouble among the little ones came a close second. Wherever he was, John was always there for those around him, regardless of if they were lifelong friends or people he had just met. If you knew him, chances are you enjoyed some of his tasty baked treats and have a photo of a special moment in your life that he took and gave to you. He will be missed by all.

John was very involved at St. John the Baptist Parish in Draper, where he attended daily Mass and was considered the parish’s unofficial photographer. A memorial Mass was celebrated for John on June 21 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A graveside service will be held July 1 at Resurrection Cemetery in Rosemead, California.
