SALT LAKE CITY — Sam Joseph Siciliano, 89, died July 15.

Siciliano was born June 16, 1919, in Salt Lake City to Joseph and Mary Arnone Siciliano. He graduated with honors from South High School, and attended Stevens Henagar College. He worked in the family-owned food service business, the Capri Italian Restaurant until World War II began. He served in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant. After the war, he returned to the restaurant business and subsequently joined Sunset Sporting Goods until 1971. He was then appointed assistant officer with the Salt Lake City District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration. He retired as assistant District Director in 1982.

He married Peggy Lettieri in August 1946. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage until her death on Nov. 30, 1991. His greatest love was his family. He also loved handball, racquetball, and golf. He was a long-time member and past president of the men’s chapter of the Italian-American Civic League.

He is survived by his sons, Sam (Mary), Tony (Maggie); daughters, Frances (Kirk), and Mary; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Rocco (Marion), and Joe (Barbara).

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
