Lifelong Murray resident Samuel T. Vicchrilli, 95, passed away on January 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephan and Maria Domenica, and eight siblings and their spouses.

Sam was a proud graduate of Murray High School, Class of 1945. After serving in the U.S. Navy for two years, he enrolled at Weber Junior College, where he played football and earned an associate degree. He married Violet Evanoff November in 1948 in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. In 1953, Sam and Vi bought a home in Murray where they raised their three daughters. They established a home filled with love, laughter, family and friends that continues to this day.

Sam wore many hats during his lifetime. He worked in the produce business, was a Murray volunteer fireman, high school football referee and a farmer. He was happiest playing in the dirt. He is survived by his wife, Vi; daughters Suzanne Sayer (Ken Head), Karen Gardner (Russell) and Lisa Anderson (Glenn); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Pete Evanoff (Arlene).

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the VA Hospital staff for their care and concern for Sam and his family.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on January 11, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial followed at Murray City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, mail donations to St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, earmarked for Sister Angela’s Food Pantry.
