Secular Franciscan Makes Profession + Enlarge

The Secular Franciscan Order, established by St. Francis of Assisi more than 800 years ago, has the purpose of bringing the Gospel to life where members live and work. The community has a variety of apostolic ministries and provides several years of formation before one makes the decision to follow the rule given to us by St. Francis. The Utah fraternity of the worldwide family received Karla Williams’ permanent profession into the gospel life at the vigil Mass on Oct. 28 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Salt Lake City. Capuchin Brother Augustine and Peggy Westrich, regional vice minister, traveled from Denver and Rapid City, S.D., respectively, to celebrate with local community. Father Anil Kumar Kakumanu, the parish administrator, presided at the Mass. Shown from left at the Oct. 28 event are  Karen Riedl OFS, Brother Augustine, Peggy Westrich OFS,  Sabrina Buckley OFS,  Fr.
