Seminarians report on their summer assignments

The Intermountain Catholic asked the Diocese of Salt Lake City’s seminarians about their summer ministry. Their responses follow.

During my summer assignment, I was assigned to Saint Vincent de Paul Parish. In each member of the community, and in the dedication of its pastor, I contemplated the living face of Christ. During this time, I came to understand that pastoral ministry is born of love and presence. The community taught me to walk with them, to pray from the heart, and to serve with humility. This experience awakened in me the desire to be a pastor who is close, compassionate and filled with God. God formed me through the ordinary: in simple smiles, in heartfelt conversations, in shared moments of prayer, in the daily Eucharist, and in every lived expression of faith.
