October 22, 1949 ~ January 30,2022

Shirley Trujillo, our beloved sister, aunt and friend, left our world January 30, 2022. Shirley was born on October 22, 1949, in Salt Lake City to Encarnación Trujillo and Josephine Maestas Trujillo.

Shirley worked for many years at ZCMI in the advertising department until the closure in 2007. In her never-stopping attitude, Shirley sought her second career and opportunity with the State of Utah court system, where she worked as a dedicated administrative assistant. Her coworkers described her as a kind, hardworking, no-nonsense teammate. A true get-up-and-go lady to the end.

Shirley had a love for coffee and sweets, always making sure she brought the pie to the party. Also, her love for music was infectious to us all. Shirley enjoyed watching movies, laughing and spending time with her family.

Shirley was loved by her family, who cherished her wit, tenacity and absolute pride. She will be deeply missed in this world as she is welcomed back into the hands of God and those who await her in the heavens.

Preceded in death by her loving parents, half-brother Gil (Tommie) Trujillo, half-sister Udela Trujillo McCormick, brothers-in-laws Judge Garrett and Blaine Shields. Survived by her loving sisters Rita (Bill) Sutton, Dickson, Tennessee, Sharon Luann Garrett, Yvonne Shields, Theresa Soliz; and half-brothers Robert (Wilma) Trujillo of Lincoln, California, and John (Vera) Cardenas of Aztec, New Mexico; and numerous nephews and nieces.  Plus, the jewels of her eye, her great-nephews and nieces. Over the past year Shirley loved to watch videos and see pictures of the two newest members of her family, her sweet great-great nephew, Diego and great-great niece Miela of Nashville, Tennessee. Special thanks and love to her caregiving nieces Toni Akre and Kassandra Soliz.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on February 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Salt Lake City. She will be laid to rest at Murray City Cemetery.
