NOTRE DAME IND. — Holy Cross Sister Margaret Flaherty (Sr. M. Alexis), 87, passed away Jan. 9, 2013. Margaret Flaherty was born Feb. 8, 1925 in Blackfoot, Ind., to John Valentine and Fern Vernon Flaherty. She became a teacher and taught junior and senior high school students at Judge Memorial Catholic High School in 1981-1983, among other places. She retired to Saint Mary’s in Notre Dame Ind. in 2002 and was active in the ministry of prayer until her death. She is survived by sisters Jean Burchett and Miki O’Brien. Sr. Margaret was predeceased by sisters Nelle Wright and Marietta Dimmick and brothers Joseph and John Flaherty. A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Notre Dame, Ind.
