St. Ambrose Parish sponsors parish mission

SALT LAKE CITY — Saint Ambrose Parish, located at 2315 Redondo Avenue, in Salt Lake City is sponsoring a parish mission in April. There will be five consecutive evenings of prayer, singing, and reflections in response to the preaching of Father John Kuehner, a Redemptorist priest from Chicago. The Redemptorists have a long history of preaching parish missions throughout the United States.

This mission was partially inspired by Pope John Paul II’s encyclical "The Holy Spirit in the Life of the Church and the World," and part three, section one of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "Man’s Vocation, Life in the Spirit." The main purpose of this mission is to educate, inspire, and empower the people of God in the normative role that the Holy Spirit has in every aspect of the life of the church. Although the Holy Spirit resides within us and is given to us so that we are able to become the Church He is the least known person of the Trinity. The purpose of this mission is to enliven the local church with the life of the Holy Spirit dwelling in them by the grace of the sacraments.

Don’t miss this extraordinary preaching event. God’s Word will be proclaimed through the Bible and through the life, learning, and personal experience of the preacher. The Parish Mission begins Sunday, April 13 from 7 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. followed by refreshments and fellowship in the parish social hall. The Mission continues each of the next four evenings, concluding on Thursday evening with the celebration of the Mass. Each night has a different theme:

• April 13, 7 p.m. - Topic: The Holy Spirit in the Life of the Church. Symbol: The Easter candle

• April 14, 7 p.m. – Topic: The Joint Mission of Jesus and the Holy Spirit Symbol: The Cross

• April 15, 7 p.m. - Topic: The Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Symbol: Water

• April 16, 7 p.m. - Topic: The Gifts of the Holy Spirit Symbol: Oil

• April 17, 7 p.m. –Topic: Unity : The Work of the Holy Spirit Symbol: Holy Eucharist
