ST. GEORGE — Christians from Spirit of Desert Home Church, Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, Iglesia De Dios Refugio Divino, Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship, New Life Christian Center, New Covenant Christian Center, St. George Community Church, and Oasis Community Church gathered Nov. 22 at St. George Catholic Church to take part in an interfaith Thanksgiving prayer service.

Pastors from each church read from the scriptures during the service. At the offertory, Father Eleazar Silva and five other ministers carried baskets of food and money to the altar. The donations were given to Dixie Care and Share, an organization that provides services to the needy.

In his Thanksgiving message, Rev. Bernie Larson, pastor of the New Covenant Christian Church, related a story about his son-in-law receiving his commission in the Air National Guard. He asked everyone to thank and pray for the men and women in the armed services because "without them we would not have the freedom to worship as

we are tonight."

At the conclusion of the service, Andrew and Melody Narott, new residents of St. George and members of Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship, said they were impressed "with the genuine friendliness and sincerity of the people

in attendance."
